Webster's Pages Step-By-Step w/Sunday Picnic!!

Good morning! Erin Blegen here and I'm very excited to be here today to share with you a layout I created using the crazy beautiful "Sunday Picnic" range from Webster's Pages! I was pretty ecstatic to discover that I would be working with this collection as I'm definitely a huge fan of Webster's, and with this particular piece I chose to really show the broad range of all the colors these papers offer.

I will take you through my creative process with a few steps...I must apologize for the picture quality, however- I have found that with 3 young kids keeping me ever the more busy, my primary scrap time is at night! But bear with me, the end result photographed well!

Step 1:
I loved the bright magenta color of the Sunday Picnic "Al Fresco" paper and knew I definitely wanted to draw that color into my layout. But because it's such a bright pattern, I decided to use it as my backdrop and opted for the "Pedal Pushers" paper with its neutral cream backside. After cutting it down and adding a bit of distressing to the edges, I cut a section from the Sunday Picnic "Blanket of Poppies" paper to draw in the blue/orange/green tones and to set the stage for the layers to come.

Step 2:
I almost always cut out the backsides of my backdrop paper- since much of the "Al Fresco" sheet was covered up by the cream paper, I cut out what wasn't showing and that way I can put it to use elsewhere. In this case, I used it to cut up some strips and punched them with a Martha Stewart border punch.

Step 3:
I layered the strips behind the base I laid for my photo, in addition to using a different punch for the orange backside of the "Al Fresco" paper. I also fussy cut some flowers from the "Blanket of Poppies" paper and placed them as a mat for my photo and as a base for my cluster I have planned for the bottom.

Step 4:
This is where the fun happens! After placing my photo, I gathered up some elements fussy cut from the "Joy Ride" paper, in addition to the "Rainbow Sky" paper from which I cut the "happiness" part of my title. Add some Bloomer Trim, a Princess Petal flower, and some Prima flowers...

And this is what you get!! I really love the process of layering and clustering. You just never really know what you will end up with! I used an amazing sketch created by my friend Nadia over @ Once Upon a...Sketch, which prompted me also to create a layout about my mom. I used the "Dream" card to the right of my layout (from the "Joy Ride" paper) as a pull tab for my hidden journaling, and my wish for happiness for my mom :).

Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me walk you through my project. I will be working with this collection all month so make sure to come on back and see what I have for you next!
