Wink's Album Update

Hi Girls, well its been a while but this Elf is keeping me busy! Crikey! Who knew that a 12 inch high house guest would cause so much havoc! There's the searching for him, the photos, and the clean up, and he appears to waste a lot of food and drink in our house..wait a minute…he's just like the boys!

I hope all your Dec daily's are going well, quite frankly its hard to keep up along with all the other Christmas commitments, but well worth it. Here are a few samples of completed pages along with photographs of our wee Wink…

This is the first wee pocket in the album, a photo of the boys the morning they received Wink…little did they know…

and this is the journalling on the back.

and these are a few samples of larger pages...

I have also had great fun with my Silhouette creating things for my album they have a great selection of Elf themed designs.

It's great to see it coming together though still have a lot more photos to have develop and pages to create, better get to it!!

more Elf Magic

I have spent today really thinking about Christmas, putting up the tree in the weekend, baking, and making a good start on my Elf album in anticipation of the wee guy arriving.

To fill the Elf Magic Binder, I used the Journal Dividers, but needed to add more pages, so rather than getting another put of dividers and also to create a point of difference, I got my Project Life pocket pages and trimmed them up to fit in the binder. This meant creating new holes on the plastic pockets to fit this binder size which I prettied them up a bit by attaching washi down the spine then created the holes accordingly.

I have now started decorating the journal pages and these pockets I have created with the Elf Magic 6x6 paper pad, the Elf Magic Stickers, the Layered Chipboard, and the Noteworthy Diecuts. I really want to get the most out of this range and hopefully add a few other wee bits and pieces to it to give the album a more personal touch. I have concluded that pre making my pages my but quite a good idea as it seems I'll be spending most of my time cleaning up after the Elf's antics!

So there you go, it's a start! Hope your December Daily's are coming along well too and I'm still mulling over Elf's name….any more suggestions?

True Friends

Hi all...

I'm back today with another layout I made using the True Friends Collection by Carta Bella.
For this page I really wanted to use the hopscotch paper, it's my fave of the whole line but it looked a little overwhelming with some of the other busy papers so I just chose a simple colour combo and went with that. Then I pulled out any stickers off the element sticker sheet that were appropriate and the right colours. The 'you and me' card is actually from the MME Cut and Paste range but the top part of the card was an exact colour match. Then I finished it all off with a bit of stitching and a Silhouette title.

Thanks for coming by today...
I hope you get some crafting time today

Spread a little Elf Magic

Hi girls, it's that time of the year and this Christmas I am just so excited! For the month of December we will have a new addition to our home….ELF! Whoop whoop.

I'm not sure if you are all aware of this cheeky little guy who has become a phenomenon not only in the States but also in the U.K. The story behind the Elf (oh yes, there is a book too), is that he arrives to keep an eye on the kids for Santa and he has special magic, but he mustn't be touched or his magic will disappear. What makes him so much fun is that once he's spied on the kids all day and they are off to bed, Elf gets up to all sorts of mischief which the children catch him red handed in in the morning. A little imagine and creative genius is required here on behalf of the parents!

So I definitely felt as though my Elf's antics needed to be documented, and rather than a Dec Daily this year, it will be an Elf Daily Diary!

What could be better for this mini album but Bo Bunny's Elf Magic Range. So I'm going to make a start on the album before Dec and start putting together the pages, with updates for you to see the progress in the making of the album.

I would love for you all to join me in creating your fantastic December Daily/ Elf Journals. Please don't feel as though if you don't have an Elf you can't join in, he is just an instrument to the fun.

In the meantime I will leave you a pic of our wee guy, I'm struggling for a name so some suggestions would be great….

A springy summery collection....

Hiya!

Hayley here...

I have a page to share with you today using the Carta Bella True Friends line... I think Carta Bella are so smart with their collections... you can do a lot with just a few papers and the sticker sheet. The colour palette is very springy (that's a word, right) and cheerful and just lovely.

For this page I misted using a mask I cut on my silhouette, I use the Mister Huey's clay mist, I like that it kinda works with everything.
Then I just simply layered a few pieces of patterned paper and found a few stickers I liked and popped them up on foam adhesive. I used the chipboard speech bubble from the MME Cut and Paste collection as the colours matched pretty well.

Supplies I used, papers all from the True Friends line:
Best Friends Paper
Floral Paper
Hopscotch Paper
School Girl Paper
Elements Stickers
MME Cut and Paste Chipboard

Have a fab day

On the 12th day of Christmas....................................

so did you start singing the tune? :)
Ive never made any secret of the the fact that I love Graphic 45 papers and embellishments, probably because they always have a heritage feel to them! Im nothing if not predictable :)

12 days of Christmas is a beautiful collection of papers and embellishments. Full of traditional Christmas colours and graphics.
Today I have two more cards to show you.  The beauty of cards is that they're like a mini version of a layout, so you can embellish to your hearts content or keep them plain and simple and they still look awesome - just like 12 x 12 pages really.  With one piece of paper, one sheet of card stock and some chipboard elements Ive made two cards for you - one simple one fancy with little cost.

Here I have separated the inside piece  from the outer tarten frame, place chipboard behind it for dimension and layered it over another section of paper.  Like a window of sorts.  The chipboard sentiment separates into two pieces, Ive just popped one up with chipboard again, and diecut some leaves and holly from a Tim Holtz die to create my cluster.

The second card is a simpler version.  This time Ive used just one section from the paper - separated the middle section from the strips and layered those behind it, mounted it on vanilla card stock diecut with a Spellbinders die and again popped it up with chipboard.  Add some ribbon and twine, a chipboard element and you're done!

So there you have it :) I hope they've inspired to get cracking on some Christmas cards!
Megan

Supplies Used:
Patterned paper: 12 days of Christmas - Holly & Ivy
Chipboard: 12 days of Christmas - Chipboard 1 & 2
Ribbon: twine, seam binding
Spellbinders: Fleur de Lis Squares

Christmas Cards

Hi! Megan here with a couple of Christmas cards for you :)

BoBunny has come up with the cutest range of Christmas paper this year, Elf Magic!,  especially if you have one of those mischievous little elves in your house that gets into mischief everytime you turn your back ;)
To create both cards I used the Misc Me Journal packs - yes they are perfect for a December Daily album, but if you're like me and don't do an album each year for Christmas then they come in really handy for cards and tags.  Actually now I think about it, you could probably do the same thing with all the Project Life cards as well, but you probably already do!

Some of the pages I have fussy cut the images out of like the wee elf pennant, and layered it up with chipboard for a bit of dimension.  The back ground is a one of the larger journal sheets, with the trees coming from another page, and the tag is in the Noteworthy pack.

For this card I just folded one of the larger journal sheets in half - the I love Santa is part of the smaller journal sheets, and santa is fussy cut from another.  The poinsettia is Tim Holtz, I LOVE this die!

Now that Ive tantalised your taste buds Adrienne has decided to tempt you a bit more and is offering 10% discount on the whole range, just remember to use the code elf magic when you check out.  The offer is open til 9am Monday 11th November, so hop on over :)

September Sketch and August Winner!!

Congratulations, Jessica Toulmin, winner of the August challenge!!!  Your RAK is on it's way.

This month's guest designer is Janet..

My name is Janet and I live on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast just north of Auckland. I am nearly 60, married for 38 years to a wonderful man – we have 2 gorgeous daughters, a great son-in-law and 2 awesome grandsons and I adore all of them!

I have been scrapbooking for several years, and was encouraged to start by my daughter Hannah. It sure is addictive and I find it very relaxing. I don’t think I have a particular style, but I do like to use ink, quite a lot of embellishments, ribbon and flowers! I am lucky enough to have a dedicated area in the spare room and love my little space.

I have had one layout and a card published in a NZ scrapbook magazine which I was totally over the moon about! One item off my goal list was achieved last year!

I make all my own cards, and have just started selling them, along with off the page items (notebooks, Journals, brag book albums, bookmarks) at local Craft Fairs.

I LOVE shopping for items, but also try to make use of my stash and old bits and pieces. One day I would like to learn a lot more different techniques and use more products.

Happy scrapping everyone!

Janet has chosen this beautiful sketch for you to create with this month.

And her lovely example.  I am sure some of you will recognise the subjects in this layout :)

    August Sketch Challenge

The month has flown by and the challenge is up late!!!!  All good intentions flew out of the window when my sister arrived last Wednesday from the UK.  In my excitement of seeing her again, and wanting to spend time with her, the blog post was forgotten.  So without further delay, here is the gorgeous sketch chosen by guest designer Vicky Mullen from the Basic Grey blog.

My name is Vicky and I am a scrapbooking addict lol.
I am 44 and have been scrapbooking for 9 years now. I did my first album as a tribute to my late partner and it helped me to heal. These days most of my layouts feature my daughter Katie and my wee granddaughter Lily with a few of my sons who are both in their 20s and seldom let me take photos of them nowadays.
My style is rather eclectic, it all depends on how I feel at the time but I like to use layers and lots of bright happy colours. I also love to use found objects like tags and such like.
I am a stay at home mum, not out of choice but because I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia which makes working pretty difficult but scrapbooking keeps me sane while the kids do their best to drive me insane lol. I live in a little village about 30 minutes out of Nelson city with my elderly but active parents, daughter, 2 sons, a cat and half a dozen sheep lol. There is never a dull moment in our crazy household but its always interesting.
thanks for choosing me Adrienne, I hope everyone has fun with the sketch.

    .

    And Vicky's lovely example.

For some added inspiration, guest designer Jessica Toulmin created this lovely layout of her little boy.  Says Jessica
"I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the right.
The collection used is Crate Paper 'Little Boy Blue' , with Tattered Angels Plain Jane 'Teal' mist (and miscellaneous brads, buttons, alphas, ribbon and thread)."

     Looking forward to your take!!!!
