the first three of five wonderful, talented, creative Guest Designers chosen by our Design Team from those who participated in the STARS competition which ended last week.   We were in awe of the amazing talent of the girls each week.  No matter the design style each and every one wowed us!!!!!  These girls will be featured over the next few months.

Today join us in welcoming the first of three local girls..... Trace Agnew

Me? I'm married, have a menagerie of animals and live on a lifestyle block just North of Christchurch, but am originally a born and bred Aucklander. I've been scrapbooking for a fair while now and have made the best friends through this wonderful addiction.

Introducing another local girl  Vicki Parker 

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand with my hubby of 27 years (Andrew) and our 3 kids - Rebecca 21 (recently left home), Alexia 20 and Aaron 16.  I am a stay at home mum and spend my days running around after everyone else, walking our dog Brody, and trying to keep fit with aquajogging classes and swimming.  I have been scrapbooking for around 7 years after walking into a scrappy shop with a friend to see what it was all about and ended up doing a class.  The rest is history and I haven’t really stopped since.  I scrapbook for me and our family and love telling the stories via my layouts and also in our Project Life album.

And from the US.....meet Kelly Foster

My name is Kelly Foster, I am 25 years old. I am enjoying a busy life in Minnesota, with my other half, Jeremy, and our two beautiful red-headed little girlies, Lilah (2) and Paisley (3 months). I started scrapbooking 2 years back, just wanting to preserve the thousands of photos I was taking!! I quickly became active with the online scrapbooking world, and my creativity just kind of "took off" and I have learned so much!! I am constantly experimenting with my style, but if I had to define what I'm currently doing, I'd call it "shabby/artsy/chic." I love lots of distressing, layering, and a little bit of messy. I love mixing lots of patterns together, and searching through the mess on my desk for fun bits and pieces to add to my layouts!! I've recently begun making cards, as well. I currently am designing for Once Upon A...Sketch, 2 Crafty Chipboard, and the Flying Unicorn Store. Thanks for having me here!!

Stars in Their Eyes - Week Nine - Winners

Well, you certainly know how to make things tough on a girl, don't you!!! Seriously, every single page in that gallery is amazing. There are so many talented scrappers here! I know people always say it was hard to choose, but it REALLY was. I loved seeing everyone's take on my style - it was such fun....

So, here are my picks.

3rd place- Skater Girl by Kelly Foster

I loved the fact that Kelly tried an 8.5 by 11 page! I've just recently started doing them and I'm hooked, so it was great to see her gorgeous page. I love the banner below the photo, her fussy cutting and the Girl Land paper she used. I reach for that a lot these days! Beautiful page, Kelly!

 

2nd Place- I Simply Enjoy Her by Hayley

Such a beautiful page! I love her use of the tags and that gorgeous, cut title. The kraft background and doilies are also something that just 'speak to me'. Such a wonderful layout, Hayley!

 

Winner- Snow Angel by topkatnz

This page is stunning! I love the grey, with the touches of pink and purple. Her doily embellishment is beautiful. And those borders look amazing! I use that doily border punch ALL of the time! Such an ingenious way of incorporating the 8.5 by 11 page, too! Congrats on creating a gorgeous page, Heidi! I love it.

(And I have to give a special shout out to Nannywazo because she literally made me laugh out loud when she mentioned that she noticed I love to eat! LOL, yes I do!)

Stars in Their Eyes - Week 8 - Winners

Ok, Girls! I've got my top picks to announce this morning! What a tough decision....there were some really cute cards to pick from!!

I love the simplicity of this card. It's not 'fussy', and yet there are lots of really pretty, interesting details!

2. Thinking of You Card by Vicki
I adore the gorgeous, colorful flower! I love the vintage feel, but it's still so bright and cheery and I love the way she incorporated the sentiment. Super cute!

and my top pick is...

1. Sending You Sunshine... Card by Hayley
I love that, again, it's a simple layout, but it's all in the details! I love the big banner, love the sentiment strip that's popped up with another bit of patterned paper peeking out from below. And the buttons perfectly placed, finishing things off beautifully!

Stars in our Eyes - Final Week!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the final week of our Stars in our Eyes competition.  I am so pleased to introduce my star:

Anabelle O'Malley!

Hi! I’m Anabelle O’Malley!  I live in Delaware with my husband and our eight year old son, Ryan and our orange tabby, Pulu. Although I’d love to spend every day crafting in my scraproom, I have to pay the bills somehow, so I also work at the University of Delaware in the Early Childhood Department.

I’ve been paper crafting for the past eight years and have loved every minute of it. It truly is my creative outlet. As a child, I would spend hours drawing and making cards for people, so this is just a natural extension of my love for all things paper. Along with creating layouts, I still love card making and trying out new techniques. I also love creating decorative gift wraps and tags. Giving them to someone is a gift in itself! Seeing Ryan enjoy the albums I’ve created makes this hobby so worthwhile.

My creations contain lots of texture and details. I love mixing colors and patterns. Finding and using vintage items is something I also enjoy doing.  Lately, foam adhesive and die cuts from my Silhouette machine have been making many appearances on my pages!

Currently I design for Crate Paper, Webster’s Pages and Emma’s Paperie.

I’ve been lucky to have been published in Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends, Scrapbooks Etc., Cards, Paper Crafts and several other paper crafting books. Additionally, I was a Memory Maker’s Master in 2008 and got to work closely with that publication.

I’m so excited to be a part of the Stars in Our Eyes competition! Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Okay, I have made my decision - which wasn't easy! I really loved ALL the layouts and wish I could choose everybody, because you all worked hard and every single page contained elements of my style.
In the end I have chosen the layouts that I think best represented my overall style.

Stars in their Eyes - Week 8

Hi everyone!

Lana here with your next fabulous STAR. It gives me great pleasure to introduce Dawn McVey!

Hi there! My name is Dawn McVey and I've been stamping for quite a few years now. I got started in paper-crafting by making cards that friends and family eventually started asking to purchase from me.  In the fall of 2007, I started my blog and started submitting my work to magazines and since then, have had over 100 projects published in various paper-crafting magazines.  

In July of 2008 I accepted a position on the Design Team for Papertrey Ink and in February of 2009, I became a Stamp/Product Designer for Papertrey as well.  I am thoroughly enjoying working with such a creative and innovative company.  In the summer of 2009, I was laid off from my office job and my husband and I made the decision for me to work from home, full time, as a designer.  At the time, it was a very hard decision to make, with the uncertainty of losing the guaranteed income that came with that day job.  It was not a move we would have chosen to make on our own at that time, however, several years later, Bart and I can both say that God clearly had other (better!) plans in store for us and this career change has certainly been a tremendous blessing!  I love working from home and have so enjoyed adding many new products to my Raspberry Suite product line over the last few years!  In 2011, I also joined the Studio Calico Design Team and have been enjoying working with their kits of products each month.  

God has blessed me abundantly with a job that I love and with a wonderful husband that encourages me to follow my dreams! Bart is my best friend and I'm so grateful to get to share each day with him.  We love traveling and spending as much time together as we can.  We also have a one year old labrador retriever, Windsor, who is as lovable as they come!  He's my little (big!) shadow in the studio each day and he's brought so much joy to our lives.  

It's a wonderful life and I'm so, so thankful.

Hi, my name is Hannah and I live on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast, just north of Auckland, NZ. I've been married to Rob for 13 years, and we have 2 gorgeous boys, Ethan (10) and Tyler (7). I work full time from home as a medical writer. I really enjoy writing, and my other interests include reading, photography, baking, music and scrapbooking (of course)!
I started scrapbooking in 2005 when Tyler was a baby. It is a creative outlet for me, and I view scrapbooking as a form of art. I find it therapeutic and relaxing, and love getting together to scrap with friends. Preserving memories for my family is a bonus, and my boys love looking back on my albums and reliving those moments.
Over the years, I have been published several times in Up2Scrap, Scrapbooking Memories and For Keeps magazines. I have also been on several Design Teams, including Scrappin' Patch for a few years. I'm currently on the Design Team for Challenge Me Happy.

Stars In Their Eyes - week 6

Wow, six weeks gone in this fabulous competition. You have created some amazing things, and I can't wait to see what you do this week!!

My lovely, talented STAR is PIRADEE TALVANNA!!

I’ve always been a crafty person, continuously creating or doing something, and was introduced to the world of scrapbooking in 2008, when I relocated from Thailand to Singapore for work (I’m originally from Bangkok).  It was there that I walked into my first scrapbook store and quickly became addicted to all the beautiful papers and fun embellishments. Scrapbooking not only allows me to explore and challenge my creativity but also helps me de-stress after along day at work; as I scrap away the wonderful memories that hubby and me are creating here.

I’ve also had the opportunity to be published in several magazines including Creating Keepsakes, CARDS, Scrapbook Trends, Scrapbook Inspirations and Scrapbook Memories and am currently designing for American Crafts, Crate Paper, Fancy Pants, and Pink Paislee; as well as being part of the Creating Keepsake Magazine Dream Team (2011 & 2012).  You’ll be able to find more samples of my work on my blog at www.piradee.blogspot.com.
