School Notes

Today is my final post here at Scrappin Patch.  I have enjoyed being a part of this group and showing you all kinds of fun things to with what the Scrappin Patch Store has to offer.

In my stash of goodies from Scrappin Patch was this extra long brown envelope.  I decided this would be a great place to keep some keep sake papers from Cole's school year.  I took advantages of all the great embellishments in the School Spirit line.

Thank you all so much for having me here!

See you around!

Echo Park mini collections with Annelie

You all know that I am Echo Park's number one fan, right? I just LOVE LOVE LOVE all their collections, and there are not many that I don't have.

Last month I purchased two of their mini collections; Homemade, and School days.

In the kits you get 3 double sided papers and one sticker sheet. As always Echo Park deliver on colour and design and it's just perfect for my taste.

Here is the LO I made with the School days mini collection. Finally got that precious photo of miss almost 6 scrapped!!

With the Homemade mini collection, I scrapped about our Christmas baking. I love using non-Christmas themed papers for Christmas pages, and I'm really happy how this one came out:

There are lots of cool mini collections in the shop, go get yours now!

Use Your Stash Challenge #3

Hi everyone :)

It's now my turn to inspire you to scrap your stash so you can win a $20 Scrappin' Patch voucher! There's so many goodies instore so it's a great time to enter.  You must only use product purchased pre 2012, excluding cardstock.

This week is a colour challenge!

Since we're nearing the end of winter (yipee!) I thought it would be nice to give it a final send off with some pretty autumn/winter tones. Here is the colour palette...

And here is my take...

I've had scraps from this Kaisercraft Peachy Keen paper pad hanging around for AGES so it's nice to finally see them made it onto a card. The cute badge detail is also from an American Crafts badge range that I bought yonks ago with good intentions (this is only the second one out of eight that I've used!).

How the competition works... Each Wednesday morning a challenge will be posted on the blog by one of the DT girls. Your take on the challenge (either a card or a layout) needs to be uploaded by midnight on the following Tuesday and all submissions will go in the draw to win a $20.00 voucher. We are using Inlinkz to upload to the blog. To do this see the 'Add Your Link' button below and upload the link to your creation on your blog or a gallery. Let us know if you have any questions :)

Thank you Hannah for creating such a gorgeous kit.....

A final look at Basic Grey "Hopscotch"

Hi everybody :)! I'm here today to share with you my final layout using the versatile "Hopscotch" collection from Basic Grey. I found the most perfect pictures to pair with these papers, so let's take a look!  Have you been inspired?  Would you love to create my three layouts?  Purchase a product kit from the shop here for only $45.00!!!!  - papers, Prima goodness, doilies, buttons and more.

"Water Girl"

I really enjoyed playing with the different patterns here and layering them...

To create my border, I used a scalloped circle punch and punched several circles from one of the sheets, cut them in half, and layered them along the edge photo mat. Then, using a small circle punch, I added the orange circles behind the scalloped ones for even further dimension.

Then I created this dimensional banner by using foam adhesive- see how it sits up off the page? Much better than a flat banner :).

I hope you've enjoyed this final look at this beautiful and fun collection! To view the complete range, see its spot in the store HERE! Have a great day and take care!!

Basic Grey "Hopscotch" Papers

More Summer Soul with Annelie

Hello hello

I have one more LO to share, that I cooked up with the gorgeous Fancy Pants Summer Soul collection. You can find everything I have used for this LO & two more LO's + a card that I posted earlier here in the shop.

This time I went for a little less colour, but still summery & fresh & with loads of little embellishments.

Again, I have used the chipboard accents and the funky rub-ons, and I have also added buttons on this LO. I loooove buttons!

I also cut out some surfboards from one of the papers. The photos doesn't relate to surfing at all, but surfboards scream summer to me so I thought it was appropriate!

Also got a little journaling in about our Boxing Day beach tradition.

There you go! Three LO's and one card or more can be done with this fabulous kit! Enjoy!

Products used:
Fancy Pants Summer Soul papers, transparancy, rub-ons, buttons, chipboard (kit)
Fancy Pants Summer Soul Alpha stickers
Martha Stewart border punch

More Basic Grey "Hopscotch" Inspiration!

Good morning, friends! I hope you are all well, wherever you are in the world :). I'm here today to share with you some more inspiration using the "Hopscotch" range from Basic Grey. If you recall my last post, I showed you how to create a feminine, girly layout pulling appropriate colors and patterns from the papers. Today I'd like to show you the more masculine side of this collection.

"Serious"

As you can see, I pulled in the brown shades here to compliment my photo. I've created multiple layers in my background, including one layer of book pages, which I tore, crumpled, and then fit in behind the punched layer. The machine stitching really helped hold everything together!

And of course, I had to add in just a couple flowers and even a butterfly! The colors fit so well and I didn't think they took away from the masculinity of the layout at all!

Supplies Used:

Thanks so much for taking a quick peek today! Will be back in just a few more days to share with you my final Hopscotch layout- see you then!

A Little School Spirit Tutorial

Hey Scrappin Patch Fans!  Its Sara Zenger back yet again!
Today I am going to share with you a tutorial and a layout made with the School Spirit line from Crate Paper.  This is by far one of my all time favorite lines from Crate Paper because its can be use for so many other things that are just school.

Lets get started!  I have seen lots of triangles these days and I love them!  Today I am going to show you how to make the triangle pattern on the left side of this layout.

(Please forgive the very bad lighting in my craft room!)
I cut the background sheet of white paper the size I want it to be.  I decided I wanted my triangles to the left of my photo and to take the whole space.  I used a ruler and drew the 3 triangles. Notice they are all going in a different direction but the sides all line up to give it an even look.

Next I used my craft knife and ruler to carefully cut the triangles out.

Now we have 3 negative triangles on our background sheet.

Next I carefully cut 3 pieces of paper to fit behind my negative triangles.

Then adhere those papers to the back side.

Now our triangles are complete!

Like what you see?  Get your own School Spirit now from the Scrappin Patch Store!

Father's Day Inspiration with Lana

Hi everyone!

Following on my theme from last time, I've got a few Father's Day cards to get you inspired! I've used the Echo Park Family Man range for all of my cards today. I'm seriously inlove with this collection! Everything about it... the colour palette, the imagery, the fun journal pieces... love! And as I said before, the PERFECT collection for Father's Day.

Now onto my first card...

'Everyday Hero - my Dad!' I'm loving the fun sentiment piece. I paired this with a builder's paper that features a bunch of tools. I also added a couple of arrows to put the focus on Dad. I'm a huge fan of dimensional adhesive, infact none of my cards are flat, so there are a few layers on this card to give it that extra punch.

My next 2 cards feature a popular icon of the moment - the moustache! Everywhere you look there's a moustache! Cookie cutters, jewellery, gift wrap, clothing, mugs etc etc. I think they're super cute and instantly give a manly vibe so I thought perfect for Father's Day.

My first moustache card features another fun sentiment piece 'Just like bacon... you make everything better' I just added 'Dad' in with some prima alphabet stickers. This card also features a lot of dimension and I added some Glossy Accents to the heart for that extra shine. I think it looks very cute!

My second moustache card is kept very simple on a white cardstock. I think it really shows off the moustache and sentiment. How cute are the row of ties?! I've also added a touch of Glossy Accents to the moustache to give it a lift.

And there you have it. I can't wait to show you my next projects. They're bound to put a bit of spring into your step ;-)

Fancy Pants Summer Soul w Annelie

Swoon. I love this line. The colours, the patterns, the promise of summer... Love it.

The papers & embellies I have used in the two LO's below is available as a kit from the shop for $37.00 . I am also working on a third LO, and have made a card as well, so there is LOT of material to use in this kit.

First up, using the gorgeous "mirage" pp as my background. Love the colour in this.

I have splattered a little bit of Studio Calico "pretty pink" Mr Huey on the background. My favourite pink mist at the moment!

Now, transparancies can be pretty scary. I haven't used a lot of them in the past. I have BOUGHT them, just not used them... So I went for it with this gorgeous transparancy. I did fussy cutting all around it and stuck it on the page like a big embellishment, and then just used one of the swirls in my top corner cluster.

Rub-ons can also be scary! But they create a depth on the page that can be hard to get with stickers for example. I've used one in my corner cluster on this page, and one on my photo. Love the result!

A fairly simple page to put together, but with such a striking result!

My second page is totally different, with my favourite white cardstock background, just with a nice pink paper as a frame around it. Again - the mist splatters that I just can't seem to live without...

Again, I have added some lovely rub-ons, and I have used the patterned paper sparingly.

I also used some of the chipboard decorations here, and cut out a wordstrip from one of the patterened papers as my journaling!

The ribbon from the same gorgeous collection is also in the kit.

Finally today, let me share the card I made with leftovers from the kit... I needed something quick for a teenage girl, and these colours are PERFECT for that!

I've used rub-ons again, on the painted butterfly, and some CUTE buttons as well. It was very well recieved!

This kit should be PERFECT for the retreat that is almost upon us!

Good Old Chap

Hi everyone is Sara Zenger back again today with another layout from the fabulous American Crafts Chap line!

I could not wait to get to work with this line. Its one of my newest favorite 'boy' lines.  For this layout I paired up a 'solid print' paper with another paper that showcased the entire collections colors. I love doing this because they I feel its easy to pull in other colors.

I added lots of the coordinating embellishments to this layout such as the journaling card, fan fold flower and chipboard bracket.

I then choose the accent color and that is the pop of red!  This line like many others from American Crafts come with the fun strip of paper at the bottom of each sheet that on side tells you the line, manufacture and name of the sheet.  The other side is a fun pattered strip - I love putting these to good use.  I did that here with the strip of red to separate my 2 papers.

If you have a boy in your love this is a must have line!  Head on over to the Scrappin Patch Store to get yours today!

See you soon!
Sara

Simply Scrap your Stories - part 3

Sometimes you just don't have TIME to scrap. But you want to do SOMETHING. For me this is most of the time to be honest. Time is almost non-exsisting, and my mojo has also gone missing.

So. This project is acually perfect for this.

The pre-cut papers, the stickers & some mish embellies - and voila - a page for the album is done. Made me feel great actually! It is not a revolutionary page including a lot of cool techniques, but I got some time to be crafty, and I got another page done for my album. Makes me happy!

Materials used:
Simple Stories Mix & Match System
Simple Stories Summer Fresh Papers & Stickers
Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer Stickers (older line - sold out)
Crate Paper Pretty Party stickers
Misc buttons, badge & no 2
